Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to use the MagnaFlag

We recommend storing the MagnaFlag inside your mailbox. Then when you have outgoing mail, simply stick it to the front of your mailbox for the postal service to see on their route. When the mail has been picked up, the postal service worker can put it back in the mailbox. Since these are designed at a 90 degree angle, they store easily inside the mailbox without taking up any space for your mail!

Will this work on a plastic mailbox?

The MagnaFlag uses magnets to stick to your mailbox when you have outgoing mail. Plastic and Aluminum are not magnetic, so you will need to use an “adaptor plate” on your mailbox to give the MagnaFlag a place to hold onto.

How do I use the "Adaptor Plate"?

The adaptor plate needs a flat surface to adhere to. Use the 3M tape on the back to stick the plate to the front of your mailbox. Do not stick it to any brick surface because the brick will be too porous for the tape to stick. When you have outgoing mail, simply stick your mailbox to the adaptor plate.

What materials are the flags made out of?

MagnaFlags are made using a 3D printed process with a material called PETG (glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate). PETG is tough, durable and UV resistant, which makes it ideal for outdoor use. PETG is one of the strongest filaments available on the market today and it will not become brittle under sunlight and will not deform even after years of use. It is commonly used to manufacture water bottles and many every-day objects like jewelry, medical items, and electric cases. It has good impact resistance, So you don’t need to worry about dropping it in the street.

Embedded in the PETG are three 1000-gauss rated magnets.

How strong are the magnets? Will they hold up in the wind and storms?

MagnaFlags were designed and tested in Oklahoma. Oklahoma routinely has winds above 25 mph, and our flags easily pass the test!

Are the MagnaFlags recyclable?

PETG is generally recyclable, however, you will need to remove the magnets beforehand. It is a tough material, so, good luck!
